PREVIEW: Women’s Soccer to Battle Falcons for the Chalice

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team will face the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Tuesday at Saints Field to see who will take home the Chalice this season.

Last Action:  The Saints are coming off a pair of wins over Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther over the weekend. Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) recorded the hat trick in Friday's 5-0 victory over the Vikings and a Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) goal with less than three minutes to play was the difference in the 1-0 win over the Knights on Saturday.

St. Scholastica Saints (11-4-1, 9-0-1 UMAC)

The Saints and Falcons played to a 2-2 draw last year in rainy and windy conditions in River Falls. Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) and Claire Lubansky (Chaska, Minn./Chaska HS) each had goals for the Saints. The Falcons captured the Chalice in penalty kicks by a score of 3-2. The Chalice was brought into the series in 2009 with the winner of the annual UWRF and CSS contest taking the trophy until the following year.
