Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) found the back of the net with less than three minutes to go giving CSS a 1-0 victory over the Martin Luther Knights in New Ulm on Saturday.

With the shutout, the Saints extend their record breaking shutout streak to 1027:08 during their 11-game unbeaten streak.

Neither team could get anything going in the first half as both defenses held strong.  The Knights'  Allison Snyder made three saves and the Saints' Bailey Mahlum (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck HS) made one to send the teams into halftime in a scoreless tie.

The second half was as much of a defensive battle as the first half until the 87th minute when Mitchell scored the lone goal off of a Danni Firkus (Hugo, Minn./Forest Lake HS) assist.

The Saints held the Knights to only two shots in the game and none in the second half on their way to the 1-0 victory.

With the goal, Mitchell now moves into a tie as the Saints' fifth leading scorer with 11.  Firkus' assist now gives her four points on the season.

Mahlum improves to 4-3-1 with this victory and earns her fifth shutout of the season.  Mahlum along with Molly Bergmann (Walker, Minn./Walker-Hackensack-Akeley HS) have now combined for 12 shutouts this season.

The Saints (11-4-1, 9-0-1 UMAC) will be back home on Tuesday when they play the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons (6-12) in the Battle for the Chalice at Saints Field at 3:00 p.m.
