DULUTH, Minn. – For the second consecutive season the St. Scholastica volleyball team reached the 20-win mark with a sweep of Bethany Lutheran on Saturday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference matchup at Reif Gymnasium.
The Saints would pull away late in the first set after some long rallies early on in the match. CSS recorded nine of the final 11 points in the set to take it by a score of 25-13.
In the second set, the Saints jumped out to a 9-2 lead and eventually took the set 25-15. CSS then closed out the Vikings in three sets using a 9-0 run to win 25-13.
Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) had a team-high 13 kills and also added 10 digs for her 15th double-double of the season.
Paige Hardy (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) added 11 kills.
Sarah Kurtovich (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) had 28 set assists and
Nikki Hughes (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern HS) led with a team-high 12 digs. The Vikings fall to 9-16 overall and 5-6 in the conference.
The Saints (20-6, 10-1 UMAC) will host both Northland College in a conference matchup on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then face Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior at 7:30 p.m. All of the action will take place at Reif Gymnasium and can be seen live on GameCentral at csssaints.com.
