DULUTH, Minn. – Behind
Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth))'s 20 kills, the St. Scholastica volleyball team swept Martin Luther College on Friday night at Reif Gymnasium by scores of 25-16, 25-21, 26-24.
This is just the third match CSS has had at home this season and the first match at Reif Gym since September 25th.
In the opening set, the Saints never trailed jumping out to a 4-1 lead, then later on going on a 7-2 run to take the first set 25-16.
The second set was determined by a CSS 9-1 run early on as they went up by two sets by score of 25-21. The third set was a battle back-and-forth as there were 19 ties and eight lead changes in the set. With the score tied at 24-24, the Knights had an attack error and then a
Paige Hardy (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) kill ended the match in three sets 26-24.
Hardy finished with a double-double on the night with 12 kills and 15 digs.
Taylor Tyllia (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) was also in double digits in kills with 10.
Sarah Kurtovich (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) had 42 assists and
Nikki Hughes (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern HS) had a team-high 16 digs.
The Saints will be at home again tomorrow when they host Bethany Lutheran College at Reif Gymansium. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and can be seen live on GameCentral at csssaints.com.
