DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team extended its shutout streak to 841 minutes and eight seconds, but had to settle for a scoreless draw against the University of Minnesota-Morris on a breezy day at Saints Field on Sunday.

It was the second annual “Kick It to Cancer” event for the CSS women's soccer team. The Saints wore pink jerseys and pink merchandise was sold at the game. There was also a 50/50 raffle with all of the proceeds going to local Breast Cancer research. There is still time to donate to the cause as if you received an Erbert and Gerbert's coupon and purchase a sub at the Duluth location by Monday evening $1 will be donated for every sandwich sold.

The Saints have yet to allow a goal in conference play this season and have not allowed in their last nine games. In 2006, the Saints also had a shutout streak of nine consecutive games. St. Olaf College was the last team to score on the Saints and that was on September 11th.

The Saints out shot the Cougars 22-2 for the game, including 5-0 combined in the two overtimes. CSS had two balls hit off the post today and another off the crossbar. Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) hit the crossbar early in the second half and Taylor Cunningham (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) hit the post in the second overtime.

Bailey Mahlum (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck HS) made one save to earn her fourth shutout of the season. RiAnne Metz had 11 saves for the Cougars. Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) led the Saints with six total shots.

The Saints will be at Bethany Lutheran College and Martin Luther College next weekend. The Saints and Vikings will face each other on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
