ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – Junior Kaylee Gombold (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) scored with three minutes and 30 seconds left in the first overtime to give the St. Scholastica women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Crown College on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints, who scored five goals against arch-rival Northwestern College on Friday, were only able to manage nine shots on goal this afternoon, but did out-shoot the Storm 35-1 in the game.

After 90 minutes of scoreless action, the Saints finally broke through as Gombold scored the game-winner unassisted with 3:30 on the clock in the first 10-minute overtime to give CSS the 1-0 victory.

Saints goalkeeper Molly Bergmann (Walker, Minn./Walker-Hackensack-Akeley HS) did not have to make a save to earn her fourth shutout of the season. St. Scholastica has now gone the entire first half of the conference season without allowing a goal. The last goal allowed by CSS goalkeeper was against St. Olaf College some 546 minutes and 17 seconds ago.

It was the first time in series history, the Storm (0-9, 0-5 UMAC) were able to force overtime with the Saints, but still found themselves on the losing end for the 24th straight time.

The Saints (7-4, 6-0 UMAC) will be back at home on Friday when they host Northland College for the start of the second half of conference play. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. at Saints Field. All of the action can be seen live on GameCentral as csssaints.com.
