Curry 20th at Wirth CCSA Freestyle

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Senior #Julia Curry# led the St. Scholastica women's Nordic Skiing team on the first day of competition in the USSA SuperTour women's 5km freestyle at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis.

Curry finished in a time of 15:41.5 to place 27th overall in the SuperTour field and 20th in the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) field.

2010 Olympian and Team CXC's, Caitlin Compton topped all competitors in the SuperTour with a time of 13:15.2. She beat CXC teammate, Maria Stuber, by 30.7 seconds. Alaska Fairbanks' Raphaela Sieber finished third overall and first in the CCSA college competition with at time of 14:09.5.

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Carolyn Freeman finished second in the CCSA race and fourth overall in a time of 14:23.1. Alice Flanders of Michigan Tech rounded out the top three collegiately in 14:37.5.

Saints sophomore, #Christina Groulx#, finished 22nd in the CCSA competition in a time of 15:57.3, while senior, #Lindsay Wallis# landed 25th in a time of 16:15.5 to round out the Saints' scoring. The Saints finished eighth as a team. Fairbanks won the team event over Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech.

The Saints continue competition at Wirth Park with the men's 15km classic mass start on Sunday.
