Men’s Hockey Scores Two Late to Down Falcons

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team surfaced above the .500 mark for the first time this season with a 3-2 comeback victory over Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) rival Wis.-River Falls at Hunt Arena on Friday night.

CSS improves to 8-7-1 on the season, including a 3-6-0 NCHA mark, while dropping the Falcons t o 6-9-1 (2-7-0 NCHA).

After a scoreless first period, #Eric Kraft# netted his second of the year at the 5:13 mark of the second to put the Saints up 1-0. Senior #Riley Riddell# had the assist.

The Falcons came back with two quick goals later in the period, the first a short-handed tally by Josh Calleja with an assist from Derek Kaiser just before the 15-minute mark. Just three minutes later, Andy Inderieden scored his second of the season for the Falcons to put them ahead. Ben Beaudoin and John Bullis had the assists.

The 2-1 score held through to the 11:11 mark of the third period when #Tyler Miller# netted an unassisted tally to even the teams at two apiece.

With just under three minutes to go, #Alex Valenti# scored the game-winner for the Saints, his sixth of the season, with assists from #Brenden Bradbury# and goaltender #Patrick Sullivan#.

In addition to scoring his first point of the season, Sullivan stopped 30 shots in the victory. Eric Babcock had 20 saves for the Falcons, including 10 in the game's final period.

CSS finished with four penalties for eight minutes with UWRF had two for four. The Saints were scoreless in two powerplay opportunities while the Falcons went one-for-four on the night.
