TWO-YEAR-OLD REMATCH GOES WAY OF THE KNIGHTS

Saints women fall to 0-4 on the season.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – In a rematch of the Saints' 2008 NCAA tournament opener, the St. Scholastica women's soccer team fell in its road opener against the Carleton College Knights by a 1-0 score on Saturday afternoon.

CSS falls to 0-4 and is winless in its first four matches for the first time since the 2003 season. Carleton moved to 1-2 with the victory.

Saints goalkeeper #Bailey Mahlum# continued to play strong in net as her Saints were held scoreless for the third time in four games this season. Mahlum made six stops for CSS on Saturday and lowered her season's goals against average while taking the loss in net.

CSS took five shots including one on-net against Carleton's goalkeeper Beth Ashinsky. #Andrea Beatt# led the way with two shots, including the lone on-target attempt.

Marlena Hartman-Filson had the lone goal for the Knights, with an assist by Lily VanderStaay, who also added three shots-on-goal for the Knights

The Saints open the conference schedule next week, beginning with Northland College in Ashland on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m., followed by Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran Colleges next weekend. CSS was voted to finish first in the UMAC for the seventh straight season in the 2010 UMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
