DULUTH, Minn. – Bedecked in their road blue uniforms, the St. Scholastica Saints men's hockey team had to settle for a 1-1 overtime tie against conference-leading No. 3 St. Norbert College on their home ice at Mars Lakeview Arena on Friday night.

The Saints, who are now winless in three straight home games, move to 15-3-4 on the season, including a 9-2-4 mark in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, while the Green Knights move to 17-3-2 in their first in-conference tie, now 12-2-1 in the NCHA. St. Scholastica remains three points behind St. Norbert for the conference lead with only three games remaining on the regular season schedule.

The Knights jumped out on top very early thanks to a Kyle Stroh goal during a scrum in front of the net just 1:19 into the first period, but CSS battled back in the second with five quality shots in the frame, including the game-tying score by #Aaron Spotts# (Sr.-Spokane, Wash.) with less than 30 seconds remaining. #Brett Corcoran# (Fr.-Parksville, B.C.) and #Jordan Chong# (Sr.-North Vancouver, B.C.) had the assists.

While the third period was scoreless, it was anything but uneventful as the Saints had what appeared to be not one, but two goals waved off by the officials. The teams totaled 30 minutes in 15 penalties on the night, but both were perfect on the penalty kill, including a power play for each team in the extra session.

Back-to-back NCHA Player of the Week #Zach Kleiman# (Sr.-Ottawa, Ont.) continued his string of stellar play between the pipes as he stopped 23 of 24 shots in 65 minutes. His Green Knight counterpart, B.J. O'Brien, stopped 20 of 21 shots by CSS. With the tie, Kleiman is now 9-1-3 on the season and has lowered his goals against average to 1.75.

The Saints will host the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point tomorrow night at Mars Lakeview Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. CSS will be honoring the 1975 NAIA National Championship team. The game can be heard live on ESPN Radio 560-WEBC or can be seen live on the web, courtesy of the iFan Sports Network, at csssaints.com. This will also be the final game that is televised on My 9 this season.
