MEN’S HOCKEY TAKES FIRST OF THE SEASON ON ROAD

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team earned its first win of the season on Friday evening, defeating the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers on the road by a 4-1 final.

The Saints improve to 1-2-0 on the season, while the Cobbers fall to the same record.

CSS picked up a pair of goals in the first period as #Tyler Miller# scored his first of the season seven minutes in thanks to an assist from #Riley Riddell#. Later in the period, #Stephane Phaneuf# scored with four minutes to make it 2-0. #Kyle Cowan# has his first assist on the goal.

The Cobbers cut the lead in half 12 seconds into the second period and the 2-1 score held up through the second intermission.

The Saints then controlled the third period, outshooting the Cobbers 17-6. With over six minutes to go and on the power-play #Brett Corcoran# put the puck in the net to make it extend the lead to 3-1. #Tyler Miller# and #Garet Chumley# had the assists. #Paul Marcoux# added an empty net goal in the waning moments to give the Saints the 4-1 victory.

#Patrick Sullivan# earned his first collegiate win, stopping 25 shots on the night. CSS outshot Concordia 30-26 for the game.

The Saints will play at Saint John's University tomorrow afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. It can be heard live on ESPN Radio 560-WEBC with Steve Jezierski on the call.
