DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team continued on an impressive streak as they earned their sixth straight shutout, blanking Northland College 3-0 on Saints Field in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest Friday afternoon.
Junior goalkeeper #Bailey Mahlum# earned her fourth straight shutout and sixth overall for the Saints as they have held opponents off the board for the past ten hours, six minutes and seven seconds of game time, not allowing a goal since Sept. 17.
Freshman #Shannon Carlson# got the Saints on the board early, scoring her sixth of the season in the eighth minute with an assist from #Sarah Kloeckner#.
Northland goalkeeper Sarah Weed kept the Saints off the board for 67 minutes following the early score, when #Hannah Roy# netted her third of the season in the 75
th minute. #Claire Lubansky# and #Malia Grosskruetz# had the assists.
Just under two minutes later, #Nicole Brandt# extended the lead with her first of the season thanks to an assist from #Andrea Beatt#.
In total, the Saints out-shot the LumberJills 27-0, including 14-0 in shots on goal.
The Saints will be off until next Saturday when they head back on the road and go to Aberdeen, S.D. and Presentation College on Saturday and then to the University of Minnesota-Morris on Sunday. Both games are scheduled to begin at approximately 2 p.m., following the men's contest.
