SAINTS’ RALLY COMES UP SHORT IN LOSS TO THE POINTERS

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team fell 4-3 to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday night to complete its season-opening series at Mars Lakeview Arena.

After the Pointers recorded a pair of even-strength goals in the first period, #Riley Riddell# scored the Saints' first goal which was assisted by #Garet Chumley# and #Brett Corcoran# 5:11 into the second period making the score 2-1.

After two more Pointer goals in the second period, #Paul Marcoux# recorded the second goal for the Saints six minutes into the third period, cutting the lead to 4-2. The goal was assisted by #Carter Davis# and Riley Riddell (Wawota, Saskatchewan/Wawota Parkland (UW-River Falls) ).

CSS got it down to 4-3 midway through the period after #Nick Taurence# scored his first collegiate goal thanks to assists by #Brandon Nowakowski# and #Daman Milsom#. However, Stevens Point would hang on for the 4-3 victory.

#Patrick Sullivan# made 31 saves for the Saints in his first collegiate start, but came away with the loss. Nick Graves had 36 saves to earn the win for the Pointers. Both teams had five penalties each.

The Saints will go on the road and out of conference next weekend when it faces Concordia-Moorhead on Friday and Saint John's on Saturday. Friday night's game against the Cobbers will begin at 7 p.m. and can be heard live on ESPN Radio 560-WEBC with Steve Jezierski on the call.
