Improve to 13-0 in the UMAC for the first time in program history

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team clinched its first outright conference regular season championship since the 1988 season with a sweep of Crown College tonight 25-11, 25-9, 25-22.

The Saints (26-6, 13-0 UMAC) have won 10 consecutive matches for the first time in over 20 years and improve to 13-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) for the first time in program history.

CSS had an 8-0 run and a 5-0 run in the first set to take it easily 25-11. The Saints were nearly flawless in the second set with 14 kills and no attack errors for a .560 attack percentage. They scored 14 consecutive points at one point to take the second set 25-9.

The Storm (4-23, 1-12 UMAC) led 12-9 in the third set, but the Saints used a 7-0 run to pull ahead for good and complete their 19th sweep of the season, winning 25-22.

#Paige Hardy#, #Anna Zyvoloski#, and #Megan Windschitl# all had nine kills to lead the Saints. For Windschitl that was a season high and she also added two block solos and three block assists. #Sarah Kurtovich# and #Mariah Sis# each had 14 assists and #Nikki Hughes# had a team-high eight digs.

The Saints will be in search of their second undefeated conference season in program history tomorrow when they face Northwestern College. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
