SAINTS SWEEP AGAIN

Zyvoloski leads with 17 kills, Hardy records 14th double-double this season

ASHLAND, Wis. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team recorded its 18th sweep this season, defeating Northland College Wednesday night 25-21, 25-11, 25-21.

The Saints improve to 25-6 overall and to 12-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) for the first time since the 1984 season. CSS has never been 13-0 in the league. The 25 wins are the most since the 1989 season. The win also means the Saints clinch at least a share of the UMAC regular season title with two matches to go. The Saints have won 33 straight over the LumberJills (8-24, 3-9 UMAC).

The Saints trailed for the majority of the first set and were down 18-14. However, they then went on a 7-2 run and closed out the set by scoring six of the final seven points to take the opening set 25-21.

St. Scholastica dominated the second set, never trailing to win by a score of 25-11. CSS had a .360 attack percentage in the set.

Just like the first set, the LumberJills scored the first three points and was in front for most of the third set. Behind 18-15, the Saints went on a 7-0 run and took its first lead at 19-18. Kills by #Megan Windschitl# and #Anna Zyvoloski# ended the match in three, 25-21.

Zyvoloski led CSS with a match-high 17 kills. #Paige Hardy# had her 14th double-double of the season with 12 kills and a team-high 15 digs. #Nikki Hughes# added 13 digs and #Molly Roith# had 11 digs. #Sarah Kurtovich# had 35 assists and Megan Windschitl (Sartell, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) had four block assists.

The Saints will finish their regular season this weekend at Crown College on Friday and Northwestern College on Saturday. With a win over Crown on Friday, the Saints can clinch their first outright regular season title since the 1988 season. That match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
