VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS KNIGHTS

NEW ULM, Minn. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team went on the road for the first time in a little over three weeks and defeated Martin Luther College in three sets, 25-17, 25-12, 25-22 on Friday night.

The Saints (22-6, 10-0 UMAC) are off to their best conference start in over 25 years. With Northwestern College losing tonight, the Saints now have a two-match lead in the conference with four matches to go. CSS has won 15 matches by way of sweeps this season.

The Knights (14-11, 5-5 UMAC) had a 5-3 lead early in the first set, but the Saints went on a 10-2 run midway through the set to take it 25-17.

St. Scholastica used another big run in the second set, scoring nine consecutive points on #Molly Roith#'s serve to take the set handily 25-12.

The third set was the tightest of the night with 10 tie scores, but just one lead change. The Saints did not take their first lead in the set until a service error made it 21-20. #Paige Hardy# then had three of the final four points to close the match out in three, 25-22.

Hardy led the way with a match-high 21 kills. #Anna Zyvoloski# added 13 kills. #Sarah Kurtovich# had 32 set assists. #Nikki Hughes# recorded 26 digs, while #Jenny Kienzle# added 10 digs. #Megan Windschitl# had five block assists.

The Saints will head to Mankato tomorrow to face conference foe Bethany Lutheran College at 11 a.m. and then face Coe College (Iowa) in non-conference action at 1 p.m.
