DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team remained unbeaten at home this season with a three-set sweep of Martin Luther College on Homecoming Saturday at CSS.
The Knights (9-8, 2-2 UMAC) came out firing, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in the opening set. However after a #Dana Moore# timeout, the Saints (15-5, 4-0 UMAC) rattled off six straight points to tie it up. With the score now 18-18, CSS converted the final seven points of the set to win 25-18.
The Saints used a 6-0 run in the second set as #Anna Zyvoloski# had seven kills in the set to give the Saints the 25-18 victory once again.
St. Scholastica controlled the third set and a #Megan Windschitl# kill ended it with the Saints ending the match in 58 minutes, 25-15. The Saints had a .433 attack percentage in the final set.
Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) led the way with 17 kills. #Paige Hardy# added 10 kills and 12 digs. #Nikki Hughes# had a team-high 14 digs in the match. #Kayla Horbacz# had six kills and #Sarah Kurtovich# had 37 set assists.
Megan Windschitl (Sartell, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) had four blocks in the match.
The Saints will host a triangular in Reif Gymnasium on Wednesday night. The Saints will begin with conference-foe Northland College at 4:30 p.m. Northland will then face 16th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 6:30 p.m. In the nightcap, it will be the Saints and the Blugolds at 8:30 p.m. All of the action can be seen live, courtesy of the iFan Sports Network, at csssaints.com.
