OSHKOSH, Wis. – St. Scholastica senior #Nick Mangan# broke the program record with the fastest 8k time at the Brooks Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, on Saturday.
The Saints sent a select group of runners, male and female, to compete in Oshkosh.
Mangan placed 44th overall with a time of 25:29, which is 46 seconds faster than the previous mark. For the first time ever, both the men and women were able to score as a team as enough runners qualified for the event. The men placed 28th out of 37 teams.
#Tony Bye# was the second Saint to cross the finish line in a time of 27:19, good enough for 163rd overall. Bye was followed by #Pat Bigaouette# in 175th place with a time of 27:33 seconds. #Ben Carlson# finished in 28 minutes flat for 194th overall and #Jimmy Linn# rounded out the top five, placing 197th overall in a time of 28:06 seconds.
For the women, the Saints placed 21st overall out of 36 teams. #Jessie Lovering# led the charge to a 32nd place finish in a time of 22:42 seconds. #Melissa Kempenich# was 69th in a time of 23:17 seconds.
#Kristen Gronbeck# ran a time of 24:19 seconds, which was 137th overall. #Emily Dunning# finished 150th in a time of 24:30 seconds. #Shannon Guse# was the fifth Saint to cross the finish line in a time of 25:16 seconds and #Haley Hasleiet# was only two seconds behind her in 185th place.
The Saints will have next weekend off and will compete next at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships on Saturday, October 30th in Ashland, Wis.
