DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team kicked off homecoming with an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) victory on Friday afternoon, defeating the Northwestern College Eagles by a 2-0 final on Saints Field.
The Saints improved their record to 5-4-1 on the season (5-0-1 UMAC), handing the Eagles (3-5-0, 2-1-0 UMAC) their first conference loss.
Saints goalkeeper #Bailey Mahlum# received two early goals of support as she earned her third straight shutout and evened her season record to 3-3-1.
#Shannon Carlson# netted the eventual game-winner just 13 minutes into the game, with an assist by fellow freshman #Claire Lubansky#.
Just seven minutes later, #Taylor Cunningham# netted her fourth of her rookie season, with assists by Carlson and #Kallie Thomas#. Cunningham led the Saints offense with three shots on net.
With a three-point game, Carlson is now the Saints' scoring leader on the season with 13 points.
CSS out-shot the Eagles 15-to-7, including 10-to-3 on net.
