The loss snaps a 14-match regular season winning streak

ST. PAUL – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team had a 14-match regular season win streak come to an end this afternoon with a 3-0 loss at Macalester College.

The Saints fall to 1-1 overall, while the Scots improve to 2-0 on the year. CSS falls to 1-4 all-time against Macalester, including 0-3 when playing in St. Paul. The Saints also had a 15-match regular season road winning streak snapped. The last team to defeat the Saints away from Duluth in the regular season was Macalester in 2007.

It didn't take long for Macalester to get on the scoreboard as 2:44 into the contest Emily Bardwell scored her first goal of the season to make it 1-0. In the 35th minute the Scots added to their lead with a Rose Betzler unassisted goal. The final goal of the match came in the 54th minute when Bardwell struck again for her second goal as Macalester went on to win 3-0.

The Scots out-shot the Saints 16-9 in the match. #Bailey Mahlum# (So.-Bismarck, N.D.) picked up the loss for CSS, while Tressa Versteeg earned the shutout for Macalester. #Jen Krokum# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./East) led the Saints with three shots in the contest.

The Saints will be back at home on Sunday when they host the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 2:30 p.m. on Saints Field. The match can be seen live on csssaints.com
