BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team was defeated by Illinois Wesleyan 3-1, but responded by sweeping Webster University (Mo.) 3-0 at the Illinois Wesleyan Triangular today.
CSS began against the host Illinois Wesleyan and fell by scores of 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, and 25-19. #Rebecca Udermann# (
Sr.-Rosemount, Minn.) led the Saints with 13 kills. #Nikki Hughes# (
So.-South Range, Wis./Northwestern) had 24 digs.
The Saints turned it around in the second match, sweeping Webster University 27-25, 25-9, and 26-24. Udermann once again led the Saints with 14 kills and
Nikki Hughes (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern HS) had 17 digs.
“The team played like no one could beat us in that second match,” Head Coach
Dana Moore said. “It was really fun to watch.”
The Saints are now 5-9 overall and will be at home for the first time this season on Friday when they host Martin Luther College to open Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Reif Gym at the Burns Wellness Commons.
