ST. PAUL – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team dominated today's conference match at Northwestern College, but had to settle for a 0-0 tie.

The Saints are now 3-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). With the tie, CSS has its 58 straight UMAC regular season winning streak come to an end. The Eagles are now 0-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference.

The Eagles would not get a shot off the entire match, while the Saints were constantly on the attack. However, with Northwestern playing defensive the entire match it was tough for the Saints to break through. The stats listed the Saints having 18 shots, but it seemed like a lot more. Northwestern goalkeeper Rhonda Morgan was fantastic in net, making 13 saves.

The Saints had a chance at the end of the second overtime when #Megan Stingle# (Fr.-Duluth, Minn./East) was fouled near the box. With a free kick just outside the box the Saints launched a pretty good ball toward the net, but Morgan made a full out extension leaping save to preserve the tie.

“I was disappointed in the questionable fouls committed in the match,” Head CSS Coach Dave Reyelts said. “I felt that the foul at the end was in the box and should have been a penalty kick. You hate to see a match end like that.”

Stingle led the Saints with six shots. #Angie Groh# (Sr.-Andover, Minn./St. Francis) got four shots off and #Jen Krokum# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./East) had three shots.

The Saints will be at Crown College tomorrow afternoon. The match is scheduled to begin at approximately 2 p.m., following the men's match
