SUPERIOR, Wis. – After dropping two matches last night, the St. Scholastica volleyball team defeated both Northland College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior today on the final day of the UW-Superior Tournament.

The Saints faced Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) foe Northland College to begin the day in a non-conference match. The Saints took the first set 25-21 with a match-high 13 kills. CSS also took the second set 25-16, but fell in the third set 24-21. However, the Saints finished off the LumberJills, winning the fourth set 25-16.

#Paige Hardy# (Fr.-Hibbing, Minn.) had 13 kills to lead CSS. #Taylor Tyllia# (Fr.-Duluth, Minn./East) and #Rebecca Udermann# (Sr.-Rosemount, Minn.) added nine kills. #Alyssa McDonald# (Fr.-Chisholm, Minn.) had 20 set assists and three service aces, while #Sarah Kurtovich# (Fr.-Andover, Minn.) had 21 set assists.

St. Scholastica then faced rival UW-Superior and would sweep the Yellowjackets in three sets after losing to them earlier in the season.

After the Saints pulled out the first two sets 25-21, 25-22, they would close out the Yellowjackets and earn their first three-set sweep on the year, capturing the third set 25-14.

Hardy again led the Saints with 16 kills. Tyllia was next with nine kills. #Nikki Hughes# (So.-South Range, Wis./Northwestern) had 17 digs and two service aces in the match.

The Saints are now 4-8 on the season and will head down to Illinois next Saturday where they will participate in the Illinois Wesleyan Triangular. CSS will face Illinois Wesleyan at 11 a.m. and Webster University (Mo.) at 1:15 p.m.
