ASHLAND, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's cross country team placed second out of five teams today at the Northland College Invitational to open the 2009 campaign.
Gustavus Adolphus won the meet with 19 points, while the Saints were second with 50 points. The University of Wisconsin-Superior was third with 88 points and Northland was fourth with 102 points. Finlandia University was fifth.

Sr.-Webster, Minn./New Prague) finished second overall with a time of 24:25 seconds. #Ellie Stasney# (
Sr.-Jordan, Minn./New Prague) came in 10th overall with a time of 26:08 seconds. #Tara Connolly# (
Sr.-River Falls, Wis.) placed 11th in a time of 26:25 seconds and right behind her was #Kristen Gronbeck# (
Fr.-Battle Lake, Minn.), who placed 12th with a time of 26:43 seconds. Rounding out the top five for the Saints was #Annie Drache# (
Jr.-Roseville, Minn.), who finished 15th overall with a time of 27:03 seconds.
The Saints will be in action again on Saturday when they compete in the Tom Barry Invitational in Green Bay. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
