HOUGHTON, Mich. – After as disappointing Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships two weeks ago, Saints sophomore #Julia Curry# (So.-Woodbury, Minn.) posted a season-, career-, and program-best finish in the five kilometer classic race at the NCAA Central Regional Championships today, finishing in a time of 19:05.7 for 17th position.

Northern Michigan University's Laura DeWitt won in a time of 17:33.4. Junior #Megan Holmes# (Jr.-Gilbert, Minn./Mesabi East) finished 34th in a time of 20:21.6, and freshman #Katherine Mueller# (Fr.-Brainerd, Minn.) finished 51st in a time of 21:39.5 to round out the Saints scoring.

“We have known Julia can ski this way, so it's really nice to see,” said Saints Head Coach Chad Salmela. “Her form has progressed all winter, and while not every result has shown it, we've known it was just a matter of time. Today was a great step and confidence builder as she prepares for the Junior Olympics in a couple weeks, and it's great to have a high water mark for the program at the NCAA Regionals.”

The Saints finish up their season tomorrow with a 10 kilometer mass start freestyle.
