SAINTS MEN DOMINATE SECOND HALF TO DEFEAT CROWN

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team out-scored Crown College 43-16 in the second half to defeat the Storm 85-53 tonight.

The Saints have now won six straight games and have a record of 12-10 overall and 8-3 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The 12 wins surpass last year's total of 11 victories. The Storm remain winless on the season with a 0-21 overall record and a 0-11 conference mark.

The Storm played tight with the Saints early, trailing by only five points at the half. Both teams shot over 50-percent in the half with CSS shooting 54-percent in the half and the Storm shooting 57-percent. #Danny Schmitz# (So.-Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson) had 12 points in the half for St. Scholastica.

In the second half it was all Saints, outscoring the Storm 43-16 as they pulled away, winning by a score of 85-53. CSS had four players score in double-figures with Danny Schmitz (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) leading the way with points and 10 rebounds. #Jesse Taylor# (Sr.-Superior, Wis./Maranatha Academy) added 16 points. #Troy Miller# (Sr.-Stillwater, Minn.) and #Bryan Johnson# (Fr.-Randolph, Wis.) both chipped in 13 points. The Storm were led by Jacob Jarvis, who had 16 points. The Saints shot 58-percent for the game, while the Storm finished at 45-percent.

The Saints will head to St. Paul tomorrow for a game against first-place Northwestern College. The tip-off is scheduled for approximately 5 p.m., following the women's game.
