IRONWOOD, Mich. – St. Scholastica junior #Julia Curry# (
Jr.-Woodbury, Minn.) mimicked her first day at the Grandview XC Challenge by finishing 10th overall and she was the top collegiate skier in the women's 10km classic, finishing with a time of 34:09.0 seconds. Curry was also 10th and first among college skiers in yesterday's 5km freestyle.
Anne Hart, defending Minnesota State High School Champion, skiing for the Minneapolis Ski Club, outpaced Kelly Chaudoin of the Central XC Elite team by 23.9 seconds, but the two dominated the rest of the field with third-place finisher,
Eleanor Magnuson (Champlin Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) of Champlin, Minn., finishing a full minute and 19 seconds further back.
CSS freshman #Lindsey Johnson# (
Fr.-St. Louis Park, Minn.) improved upon her Saturday collegiate debut by placing 19th overall in 35:11.2 seconds. Senior #Megan Holmes# (
Sr.-Gilbert, Minn./Mesabi East) rounded out the scoring positions finishing 28th in 35:39.7 seconds.
"Another solid race for Julia and a big improvement for Lindsey today, should give both skiers a lot of confidence going into the season," said Saints head coach
Chad Salmela. "We need some more intensity and racing yet before they really start to do what they can do, so if this is the starting point, it's a good one."
The Saints take to the snow next, January 2nd at the U.S. National Championships in Anchorage, Alaska.
