DULUTH, Minn. – In a battle of nickname supremacy in the conference the St. Scholastica volleyball team swept Presentation College in three sets tonight at Reif Gym.
The Saints move one step closer to .500 with a 10-11 overall record and a 4-2 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) mark. Presentation falls to 1-15 overall and 1-4 in the league. CSS has defeated Presentation College all 18 times the teams have squared off.
Tonight was the second straight night that the Saints held a “Dig Pink” event. The primary goal of the event is to raise awareness and promote breast cancer education. Both teams wore pink warm up tops in honor of the event.
St. Scholastica pulled away late in the first set going on a 7-0 run to win 25-17. CSS had a match-high .276 attack percentage in the set. The Saints jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the second set, but Presentation hung in and took a 23-22 lead. A couple of Presentation errors and a #Molly Roith# (
Jr.-Fridley, Minn.) kill sandwiched in between gave CSS a 25-23 set win.
The Saints kept it going in the third set, scoring the first eight points. Presentation never recovered and the Saints took the set and the match 25-15.

The Saints will be at Northland College on Wednesday. That match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Kendrigan Gymnasium.
