GROH’S EARLY GOAL LIFTS WOMEN’S SOCCER TO WIN

Groh scores team-high fifth goal of the season

MORRIS, Minn. – Senior #Angie Groh# (Sr.-Andover, Minn./St. Francis) scored a little over three minutes into the match and it was enough to give the St. Scholastica women's soccer team the 1-0 win over the University of Minnesota-Morris today at Big Cat Stadium.

Groh scored an unassisted goal 3:19 seconds into the match for her team-best fifth goal of the season. #Erin Olejnicak# (So.-Brainerd, Minn.) was solid in goal for the Saints, stopping five shots in the match. CSS's #Melisa Entinger# (Sr.-Mound, Minn./Holy Trinity) hit the crossbar early in the second half for the next-best scoring chance for either squad in the match.

The Saints out-shot the Cougars 16-9 in the match and had nine corner kicks. Olejnicak improves to 3-1-1 on the year with the win. Emily Jacob stopped six shots in the loss for Morris.

The Saints are now 7-3-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Cougars fall to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference. CSS's regular season conference unbeaten streak is up to 63 matches.

The Saints will face Presentation College tomorrow following the men's match. It is scheduled to begin at approximately 2 p.m.
