ST. PAUL – The St. Scholastica volleyball team was defeated tonight in three sets by the two-time defending conference champion Northwestern College at the Ericksen Center.
The loss drops the Saints' overall record to 7-11 and their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) record to 1-2. The Eagles improve to 7-7 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The Saints have lost four straight against the Eagles.
CSS got off to a slow start and would not recover as the Saints had a negative attack percentage in each of the first two sets. The first set was closer than the score indicated as it was tied 12-12 and was later 16-14 before the Eagles took over and won 25-17.
Northwestern took an 8-1 lead in the second set and cruised to a 25-15 victory. The Eagles began to take control of third set halfway through the set to win the match by a score of 25-17.
The Saints as a team had a season-low 19 kills in the match. #Paige Hardy# (

The Saints will play at Crown College tomorrow for the Storm's Homecoming. The match will begin at 11 a.m.
