WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TAKES THIRD AT PINE HILL

Saints break 14 personal records on the day

CARLTON, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's cross country team ran through slippery and blustery conditions to place third today at the Pine Hill Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota-Duluth. 

Minnesota-Duluth won the event with 18 points. St. Cloud State was second with 57 points and the Saints were third with 66 points. The Saints had 14 personal records on the day and three season bests. 

The temperature at the start of the race was 25-degrees with a wind chill making it feel much colder than that. The course was also snow covered with made it slippery. 

#Katelyn Meger# (Sr.-Webster, Minn./New Prague) led the way for St. Scholastica with a time of 23:22 seconds to finish third overall and the top NCAA Division III finisher. #Jessie Lovering# (Jr.-Bemidji, Minn.) was 14th with a season-best time of 24:35 seconds. #Tara Connolly# (Sr.-River Falls, Wis.) was 20 seconds behind her with a time of 24:55 seconds to place 17th overall. 

#Kristen Gronbeck# (Fr.-Battle Lake, Minn.) was 19th overall with a personal-best time of 24:58 seconds. #Kristina Ewing# (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) rounds out the top five for the Saints as she was 28th overall with a time of 25:17 seconds. 

The Saints will compete at a couple of events next weekend. On Friday, the team will be at the Cobber Invitational, hosted by Concordia-Moorhead. The race begins at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, select team members will compete at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. That race begins at 11 a.m.
