In his first season for the Saints, Gordon filled in as interim head coach during Mark Wick’s medical leave and guided the Saints to a 3-1 win at No. 7 St. Norbert College and a quarterfinal series victory at No. 15 Lake Forest College.
Gordon, an International Falls, Minnesota native, had been playing professionally for six years before being hired in early October 2014. He played the last two years with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League and also spent time in the American Hockey League, the ECHL and the German Elite Division.
While with the Oilers, he was also an assistant coach with recruiting duties, film study and implementing systems. On the ice, Gordon had his best season as a pro in 2013-14, leading the team in goals and points on his way in being named the team’s Most Valuable Player.
Gordon played college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where he was part of four NCAA Tournament teams, the 2007 WCHA Final Five championship squad and two WCHA Regular Season championships (2006 & 2007). Gordon received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications in 2008.
While playing at International Falls he was named the Duluth News Tribune Player of the Year and a finalist for Minnesota’s Mr. Hockey award in 2003. He also played for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL from 2002-04.
Gordon has been an instructor at the International Falls Summer Hockey Camp since 2000 and also a coach/evaluator at the Advanced 15s Minnesota Hockey Camp since 2008.
His sister, Sydney Gordon, was the starting shortstop for St. Scholastica for two seasons (2013 & 2014).
Gordon and his wife Maile, along with their son Mack, currently reside in Duluth.
