| By:
Box Score MANKATO, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team lost to Bethany Lutheran College Friday night 81-64 in the UMAC Game of the Week.

The Vikings started the game off incredibly hot going on a 21-6 scoring run over the first seven and a half minutes.

The Saints would battle back and cut the lead down to nine several times.  Once with a Julius Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) 3-pointer, another time with a Trevor Morlock (Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS (Minn., Crookston)) layup, and third time with Garret Pearson (Rush City, Minn./Rush City HS) making a layup to make the score 40-31 with just 1:15 to play in the half.

The layup by Pearson was just two points of a Saints 8-0 run to end the first half.  The run was highlighted by a LaMonte Hall (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS (Saint Mary’s)) jumper with just one second left to cut the Vikings lead to five at 40-35 at halftime.

Right out of halftime the Saints cut the lead to three with a Johnson layup, but the Vikings would respond with a run of their own and by the 14:00 mark in the second half Bethany Lutheran had built up a 58-41 advantage.

That lead would remain in double digits for the remainder of the game building as high as 21 points, all leading up to an 81-64 Saints loss.

Overall, the Saints shot 41.2 percent from the field and were just 4-of-17 from the 3-point line.  Bethany Lutheran shot 46 percent from the field and was 8-of-20 from beyond the arc.

Morlock led the way for the Saints with just 10 points, while Jacob Wensmann had 24 to lead the way for the Vikings (6-14, 5-4 UMAC)

The Saints (7-13, 4-5 UMAC) will next be in action tomorrow as they take on Martin Luther College in a UMAC road matchup.
