DULUTH, Minn. – St. Scholastica head baseball coach
Corey Kemp has announced his recruiting class for the upcoming year.
Unlike last year's record class, the Saints only have four recruits this year. The four recruits include a left-handed pitcher, a catcher, and two players that can pitch and also play the field.
Joe Sheeser, a left handed pitcher from Totino Grace and
Tyler Henderson, a catcher from Chisago Lakes, were both selected to play in the Lion's All Star series for the state's top seniors in June.
They are joined by Cloquet pitcher/first baseman
Thomas Rogers, who helped lead the Lumberjacks to the Minnesota State Tournament last spring.
Rounding out the class is pitcher/outfielder
Andy Davis from McDonell Central High School in Chippewa Falls, Wis. Davis led his team to a second place finish at the Division 4 Wisconsin State Tournament. On the mound, Davis complied a perfect 8-0 record, gave up just one earned run in 57 innings pitched, and walked only five batters while striking out 95 in 57 innings pitched.
The Saints finished the 2010 season with a 38-8 record, advanced to their sixth straight NCAA Tournament, and won their 14 straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference championship.
