2010 Schedule
DULUTH, Minn. – St. Scholastica head men's soccer coach
Barry Chastey has announced his first recruits of the 2010 class with former Duluth East player
Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS), along with goalkeepers
Bryan Nyberg (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) and
Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) all intending to play for the Saints this upcoming season.
Johnson was a first team all-state and all-area selection for the Greyhounds. He also led the team in scoring and had been Duluth East's captain the previous two seasons. Johnson also played hockey and golf for the Greyhounds.
Nyberg was an all-conference selection and a two-time honorable mention choice as a goalkeeper at Tartan Senior High School in Oakdale.
Hewitt has just returned home from the provincial high school championships in Hamilton, where his high school team took home the Gold, earning them the title of No. 1 high school soccer team in all of Ontario.
The Saints will begin their quest for their first-ever NCAA Tournament when they host 2009 NCAA participant Macalester College at Saints Field on Wednesday, September 1st.
CSS will then host the Advantage Emblem Cup from Sept. 3rd-5th up at Saints Field. The Saints will face Concordia-Moorhead on Friday, Sept. 3rd and Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday, Sept. 5th.
Other non-conference contests include a trip to Carleton College on Sept. 11th and to the University of St. Thomas on Sept. 21st. The final non-conference matchup on the schedule will be when the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh makes a trip to Duluth on October 10th.
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action begins on Sept. 14th when the Saints go on the road to face Northland College. CSS will host Crown College on Oct. 2nd for homecoming.
For the first time ever the conference's automatic qualifier will be on the line at the UMAC Postseason Tournament beginning on November 2nd. The Saints just missed making the NCAA Tournament last season as an at-large team and did not graduate one senior from last year's squad so expectations are high.
