MORRIS, Minn. – #Jermaine Dacres# scored his fifth game-winning goal of the season on Sunday to give the St. Scholastica men's soccer team a 1-0 triumph over the University of Minnesota-Morris.

The Saints (12-3-1, 9-0-1 UMAC) now hold a two game lead over the Cougars (8-4-3, 7-2-1 UMAC) in the conference standings with four contests left in the regular season. Two wins next weekend and Saints would clinch at least a share of the conference regular season championship.

CSS controlled the contest, outshooting the Cougars 26-3 and holding an 8-1 advantage in corners kicks. However, Morris goalkeeper Tyler Simpson was stellar in net making seven saves on the day.

The best scoring opportunity of the first half for the Saints came in the first two minutes when #Brandon Stemwedel# hit the post. #Toby Peter# later hit the post in the 53rd minute.

The Saints finally got one in the back of the net in the 87th minute when Dacres received a cross and beat Simpson far post to give the Saints the 1-0 victory. Stemwedel and #Greg Doornink# had the assists.

#Sam Reed# made just one save to earn his 10th shutout of the season, matching his total from last season. He now needs just one more shutout to tie the record of 11 held by Adam Whitehead during the 2007 season. Reed, only a junior, needs just five more shutouts to match Whitehead's record of 30 career shutouts.

The Saints will be back in Duluth next weekend when they host Bethany Lutheran on Friday and Martin Luther on Saturday at Saints Field. All of the action can be seen live, courtesy of the iFan Sports Network, at csssaints.com.
