Sam Burt joined the St. Scholastica men’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2026, bringing eight seasons of professional playing experience and a background in scouting and player development.
A graduate of NCAA Division II Fresno Pacific University, Burt was a two-time team captain and earned all-conference honors during his senior season. He went on to play professionally in Germany, Italy, Spain, Iceland, Uruguay, Libya and Portugal. His international career exposed him to a variety of basketball cultures, coaching philosophies and styles of play, shaping his approach to player development.
During his professional career, Burt expanded his coaching experience through offseason work under EuroLeague coach Emilio Kovacic as a skills development coach and scout. His responsibilities included player evaluation, individual skill development, scouting and preparation.
For the three summers prior to joining the Saints, Burt worked with players throughout the Twin Cities, including top high school talent and international professionals. His coaching approach combines technical skill instruction with the competitive mindset and basketball knowledge developed during his playing career.
Burt emphasizes helping players maximize their individual potential while building the confidence, discipline and understanding of the game needed to succeed on the court.
