Box Score Fond du Lac, WI - The Saint Scholastica Saints Women's Hockey team faced off against the Pointers of UW-Stevens Point in the non-conference Fondy Pot Invitational at the Blue Line Ice Center for the first game of 2025. Despite efforts to take a lead in the second period, the Saints fell short in this matchup.
How it HappenedÂ
1st Period
The first period concluded in a 0-0 deadlock, with the Saints applying significant pressure, outshooting the Pointers 13-5.Â
The Pointers' goalie delivered crucial saves to keep the game even, while Lyndi Schubert (Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS), Taylor Leonard (Mound, Minn./Mound Westonka HS), and Hanley Block (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) each contributed two shots on goal for the Saints.
2nd Period
The Saints started off the second period with great intensity, with Hannah Martin (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scoring just over a minute in to give the Saints an early lead. Martin was assisted by Block and Paige Blattner (Avon, Minn./River Lakes HS).
Both teams continued to fight for a goal, and at 8:24, the Pointers pulled a goal back to equalize this intense game. Building off this momentum, the Pointers were able to put another on the board, capitalizing their 2-1 lead at 13:07.
With just a minute left to go, the Pointers increased their deficit against the Saints to 3-1 right before the break.
Despite conceding, the Saints maintained steady offensive pressure but struggled to get the puck on target.
3rd Period
The Saints' offense pushed hard in the third period, creating several close chances but ultimately falling short in their comeback attempt. They managed 10 shots on goal in the final frame but couldn't close the gap.
Despite the loss, sophomore Kieley Curow (Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) delivered a strong performance in net, making an impressive 25 saves over the course of the game.

The Saints (1-11-0, 0-6-0) will continue action this Saturday, January 4 at the Blue Line Ice Center in Fond du Lac once again. The next matchup will be against Marian University to conclude the Fondy Pot Invitational. Puck drop is scheduled for 1 p.m.
