WINONA, Minn. - The College of St. Scholastica women's tennis team got back into conference play after having a week off. The Saints would be able to secure the 7-2 win over the Cardinals.
Doubles
St. Mary's grabbed two of three points in doubles play, the top team of
Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and
Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) was able to grab the 8-5 win.
Singles
Maier picked up the 6-3, 7-5 victory while Garica won in three sets 6-1, 4-6, 10-3.
Mishell Benitez (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Tecnico Particular a Distancia José Martí) won 6-1, 6-1 in the third slot.
Katia Bartels (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View HS) won her match 6-3, 6-1 and
Maria Sosa (Mazatenango, Guatemala) had a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Anna Ritchie (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) was able to claim the last point for the Saints as he earned a 7-5, 2-6, 10-5 win.
Up Next
The Saints improve to 9-7 overall, and 4-3 in the conference. Next Saturday, they'll face Bethel University.
