OWATONNA, Minn. - The College of St. Scholastica women's tennis team headed south to the West Hills Tennis and Fitness Center for a pair of matches against the University of Northwestern and Ripon College. The Saints would start their weekend in the win column with a 9-0 sweep of the Eagles before getting another 9-0 sweep versus the Red Hawks.

The Saints doubles team would be able to pick up some much-needed wins on Saturday morning. The new No. 1 pairing of
Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and
Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) saw a dominant 8-0 victory.
While the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams saw 8-4 victories, the second pairing was
Chloe Hasbargen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) and
Mishell Benitez (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Tecnico Particular a Distancia José Martí), with the final team being
Anna Ritchie (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) and
Maya Nibbe (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS).
In singles action, Maier would take care of her opponent in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-2. The German standout has won six singles matches in a row.
Garcia took care of her match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory and Benitez won 6-3, 6-0 in the third slot.
Maria Sosa (Mazatenango, Guatemala) went into three sets with her foe, grabbing the first set 6-2, falling 6-3 in the second, but was able to earn the 10-6 victory in the final set.
Katia Bartels (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View HS) handled her match, winning 6-1, 6-0. Her twin sister,
Elena Bartels (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View HS) played in an exciting match and came away with the 10-5 win in the third set.

All doubles scores would end up with 8-2 scores. It was the same pairings of the No. 1 and No. 2 who would claim their matches.
In No. 3 doubles it was
Claire Rewertz (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Taylor Vyskocil (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS), who would get their 8-2 victory on Saturday evening.
Sosa would lead off for the Saints, winning her match 6-2, 6-0.
K. Bartels, Ritchie, and E. Bartels won in No. 2 - No. 4 singles action.
Eva Kangas (Grand Rapids, Minn./Minnesota Virtual Academy – Grand Rapids HS) would dominate her match in the fifth spot, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Rounding out the scores for the Saints was
Hailey Hokanson (Sauk Centre, Minn.), picking up the 6-2, 6-0 win.
