Women's Hockey Fall on the Road to Pipers

Noteables
-  Pohlkamp Goal
-  Cole 35 Saves

St. Paul Minn, – The Saint Scholastica Women's Hockey Team traveled to St Paul Minn to play the Pipers of Hamline University in the second of a two-game series. Today's game would not be so even as the Saints would not be able to withstand the Pipers offense, they would fall on road 6-1.

What Happened
Coming off a well-fought effort against the Piper's last night, The Saints went into today's matchup with confidence, confidence that would show strongly in the first and slowly fizzle out as the game progressed. The first period would be the only period of the game that would see the Saints scoring. The game would start with the Pipers landing a goal eight minutes into the game, and eight minutes after that, Abby Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) would bury the Saints only goal of the night. The Saints' Lisa LaRoche (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) and Hanley Block (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) would tally the assists on that goal. The first period would set the tone of the game however, as the Pipers would drastically outshoot the Saints with 20 shots on goal compared to the saints who would only register eight. The period would come to an end with the Pipers receiving an interference penalty, which would lead to the Saints making a goalie substitution at the start of the second.

The second period would start with a goalie change for the Saints, Ashlea Arvidson (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) would come off following a penalty on the Pipers, Makenzie Cole (Cohasset, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) would come in to replace their starter. This period was certainly a bit slower when it came to scoring goals, however that does not mean the game was slower, with multiple penalties being handed out to each team, numerous shots on net, and excellent defensive plays on both ends of the ice, this was an action-packed period to say the least. The Pipers would stay consistent and register another 20 shots on net, compared to the Saints this time around who would only get three. The period would end just the same way the first ended, with a score of 1-1.

Both teams desperate for a conference win were seeing red at the start of the final period of play. The Saints doing the best they could against a proven opponent would fall short once again in shots on net this period, only registering three once again compared to the Pipers who would maintain their offensive consistency registering another 20. Much to the dismay of the Saints, they would not be so fortunate this time around, as the Pipers would bury five unanswered goals this period to secure this win. At the final buzzer the score would be 6-1 in favor of the Pipers, extending their win streak to nine games.

Goaltending
Ashlea Arvidson (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) would play the first 20 minutes of the game for the Saints before coming off the ice. In that time she would face 20 shots and register 19 saves.

Makenzie Cole (Cohasset, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) would play the remaining 40 minutes of the game for the Saints, she would face 40 shots and register 35 saves.

Kendra Nordick played all 60 minutes for the Pipers, she faced 14 shots and registered 13 saves.
