BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Junior
Anthony Vo (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville HS) was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career after helping the Saints earn their first victory on the season against Crown on Sept. 16.
This is also the first weekly award honor for program, since CSS joined the MIAC in 2021.
Vo led the Saints with nine total tackles, four of which were solo stops, and recorded one sack for a loss of six yards in the 38-18 win. Vo's first collegiate rush attempt also went for a two-yard touchdown, as Vo received a handoff out of the Saints' jumbo package at the goal line and barged through the middle for a second-quarter score.
Vo will have a chance to add to his defensive totals and potentially another scoring opportunity when the Saints host Concordia on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons.
