Volleyball Fall in Three Sets to Yellowjackets on Homecoming Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica Women's volleyball team opened up the homecoming weekend with a non conference border battle with the Yellowjackets of Wisconsin Superior. UWS would get the series sweep as they beat the Saints 3-0 tonight and 3-1 back in September.

How It Happened
The first set saw these two rivals go at it, the Saints would score two quick points including a service ace from Grace Myhre (Aberdeen, S.D./Aberdeen Central HS). CSS kept leading for the early portion of the set, but Yellowjackets would continue to apply the pressure by tying the game up multiple times.

Eventually, the foes would go on a 5-0 run to regain the lead 17-13. CSS followed back with a run of their own, including two kills by Natalie Yackley (New Ulm, Minn./New Ulm HS) and two service aces from Bryn Ziegler (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS). Again, these teams were tied at 20 apiece, until the Yellowjackets scored the next five to earn the advantage.

UWS started to heat up in the second set, the Saints were down by seven until Mikala Peterson (Mora, Minn./Mora HS) recorded two kills, and Myhre had two more aces to only be down by two. The 'Jackets would be able to finish out the second winning 25-19. The final set seemed to be too much for the Saints as they fell 25-11.

Top Performers
Lindsey Baribeau (Biwabik, Minn./Mesabi East HS) led the team in attacks, who recorded six kills; teammates Delaney Schaeffer (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS), Yackley, and Peterson had five kills. Ziegler had four service aces on the night and Myhre had 22 assists. Libero Olivia Bauer (Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) managed 14 digs in the match.
