MOORHEAD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey concluded the series tonight at the Moorhead Sports Center. After Friday's two goals that were scored in the span of twenty-one seconds and would give the Saints the 2-0 win over Concordia College-Moorhead. This time, the Cobbers would get revenge in the 2nd period and score three goals to secure the 5-2 victory over CSS.

How it Happened
It would be the Saints who would start the scoring, Senior Lily Holtz (Austin, Minn./Austin HS) would find Gabby Gamst (Moose Lake, Minn./Moose Lake HS) for a nice goal at the 14:20 mark. The Saints would only have the lead for a few minutes when the Cobbers answered back with a goal of their own at 10:33. With eight minutes remaining, the Saints would have a power-play opportunity after a tripping penalty was called on Concordia.

Taylor Murray (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) would fire a shot in on the power-play, but it was saved. A play later, Hanley Block (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) would get her opportunity as she scored for the Saints, Murray was credited for the assist. With 7:40 on the clock, the Saints would retake the 2-1 lead. Minutes later the Saints would be called for hooking, and the Cobbers took advantage and scored at the 4:43 spot. At the end of the first, this game was tied 2-2.

Last night it was the Saints who did all the scoring in the second, this time it was all Concordia. It's worth mentioning the Saints had three power-play opportunities, but couldn't quite connect. The Cobbers would go ahead and score three unanswered goals, one shorthanded, to give them a 5-2 cushion over CSS.

The Saints would try to score during the third to help shorten the Cobbers' margin, but they came out empty-handed. CSS would have 11 shots, while only giving 3 to Concordia in the third. In the stat sheet, the Saints would lead in shots and faceoffs, but the three goals in the second period would seal the deal for the Cobbers as they stole the sweep opportunity from the Saints.

Goaltending
Ashlea Arvidson (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) would log roughly 30 minutes for the Saints while recording 7 Saves. Kenzie Cole (Cohasset, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) would take over midway through the second and also have 7 saves on the evening. While Kiana Flaig had 31 saves for the Cobbers.
