MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (cssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica football team traveled to Minneapolis this weekend to take on a MIAC conference rival in the Auggies from Augsburg University. Although CSS took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter, Augsburg was able to rally and control today's game, winning by a score of 50-13.

How it Happened
Fresh off its first win of the season, the Saints ran with its momentum. On the third drive for the Saints, Nick Schlender (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) took a 44-yard rush to the house to give CSS an early 7-0 lead.

Augsburg was able to answer back to CSS' touchdown, adding a field goal to make CSS' lead diminish to 7-3.

The second quarter was dominated by the Auggies, as Augsburg scored on all four of its drives, taking a lead going into halftime over CSS, 24-7.

CSS forced a fumble on Augsburg's first drive of the second half, as Kyle Oswald (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) forced an Auggies receiver to fumble, and Jake Kukowski (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) recovered the fumble to give CSS some momentum.

On the ensuing drive, Schlender once again proved to be a force, scoring his second touchdown of the afternoon on a 31-yard rush to make the score 24-13 in favor of the Auggies.

Augsburg added two more touchdowns in the quarter, extending its lead to 37-13 entering the 4th quarter.

The Auggies continued to add to its lead in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 more points in the contest, to take today's game by a score of 50-13.
