DULUTH, Minn.
(csssaints.com) – In its final home game of the season, the St. Scholastica football team took on the #4 ranked Johnnies from St. John's this afternoon. Although the Saints gave it its best effort, St. John's was able to be in control for most of the game, as the Johnnies walked away with the victory over CSS this afternoon by a score of 56-6.
How it Happened
The Johnnies dominated the early battle, scoring on two of its first three drives of the first quarter to take an early 14-0 lead though one quarter.
The second quarter saw St. John's extended its lead, as the Johnnies went into halftime with a 35-0 lead.
The Saints' lone touchdown of the afternoon came in the third quarter, as
Donald West (St. Paul, Minn./Woodbury HS (Iowa Central)) connected with
Wyatt Lahr (Bowlus, Minn./Royalton HS) for a 70 yard touchdown reception as the Saints cut St. John's' lead down to 48-6.
Although the Saints tried to trim St. John's lead, the deficit was too great, as St. John's scored once again in the fourth quarter, and ultimately defeated the Saints today by a score of 56-6.
Top Performers
On the offensive side of the ball,
Donald West (St. Paul, Minn./Woodbury HS (Iowa Central)) recorded 212 passing yards on the afternoon.
Nick Schlender (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) led the Saints in rushing, recording 43 rushing yards and
Ashton Hain (St. Francis, Minn./St. Francis HS) also recorded 20 yards today.
Wyatt Lahr (Bowlus, Minn./Royalton HS) led the receiving corps today, as Lahr totaled 95 receiving yards and a touchdown reception.
Defensively for the Saints,
Anthony Vo (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville HS) led the team with 10 tackles, while
Antonio Bugni (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) and
Adam Chudecke (Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS (North Dakota State College of Science)) were second and third for CSS in tackles, as Bugni recorded six tackles and Chudecke recorded five, respectively.

The Saints (2-6, 1-5 MIAC), will finish its regular season next Saturday, where they will travel to St. Paul to take on Macalester in a conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
