DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica's women's soccer team defeated St. Olaf College 1-0 on Wednesday at Saints Field for its first home Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win.
 
How it Happened
It was a close matchup between the teams, keeping one another to a scoreless first half. Alexa Ickert (Minnetrista, Minn./Waconia HS) had a great scoring chance in the 30th minute, but was denied by the Oles keeper.
 
After McKenzie Nelson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) struck the crossbar in the 56th minute, Morgan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) scored in the 57th minute off of an Ellie Keillor (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) corner making it 1-0. The Saints were able to shut out St. Olaf (4-4-1, 2-2-0 MIAC) for the remainder of the game to preserve the 1-0 victory.
 
St. Scholastica's goalkeeper Brianna Jorgenson (Columbia Heights, Minn./Columbia Heights HS) had a total of six saves to earn her first collegiate shutout.
 
St. Olaf's Tessa Anderson shot three of the six shots on goal throughout the game.

CSS (2-5-2, 2-1-0 MIAC) will be back on the road on Saturday at Bethel University. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
