DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Behind Morgan Friday's (Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's HS) three goals, the St. Scholastica women's soccer team captured its 15th Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament championship with a 4-0 triumph over Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday at Saints Field.

How It Happened
The Yellowjackets (7-3-0) were holding their own with the Saints early until Friday sprinted up the wing and crossed in a ball that Kaiya Quam (Oakdale, Minn./Mounds View HS) battled the UWS goalkeeper for and ultimately won the possession and buried it into the net to make it 1-0 in the 18th minute. Friday then made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute as it snuck on the far post.

It remained 2-0 into the second half until Friday headed in a Mara Roberts (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) corner kick to extend the lead to 3-0. The final goal of the game came in the 63rd minute when Friday received a pass from Quam and turned in the box and fired into the net to make the final 4-0.

Friday named Tournament MVP
Friday recorded eight goals in the two games of the tournament and had a hand in all nine goals the Saints scored in the tournament. She finished the nine-game spring season with 27 goals in nine games, including scoring all 27 goals in the final eight games.

She becomes the third player in program history to accumulate at least 160 career points.

End of Season
The Saints finish 9-0 for the spring season. CSS will say goodbye to two seniors in Mara Roberts (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) and Katelyn Gehling (East Bethel, Minn./St. Francis HS). St. Scholastica will now move on to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) next fall.
