DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team had little trouble with Crown College on Saturday winning its Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament quarterfinal match 9-0 at the Longview Tennis Club.
Doubles
The No. 1 team of
Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and
Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won by an 8-3 margin.
The No. 2 team of
Maya Nibbe (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) and
Madeline Samz (Savage, Minn. /Burnsville HS), along with the No. 3 team of
Emily Carpenter (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and
Hannah Loewen (St. James, Minn./St. James HS), each blanked their opponents 8-0.
Singles
CSS won four of the six singles matches by shutout.
Maier at the No. 1 spot,
Ava Warren (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) at No. 4,
Maria Valentini (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) at No. 5 and
Julia Ellefson (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) at No.6 all won their matches 6-0, 6-0.
Jankila won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot and Nibbe 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.
