St. Scholastica Saints

What You Need to Know about St. Scholastica:
-CSS is coming off a 41-14 loss at St. Olaf College last Saturday.
-The Saints outscored the Oles 7-6 in the second half.
-Senior wideout
Mitchell Adrian (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) had 14 receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown.
-Adrian ranks second in NCAA Division III, averaging 9.4 receptions per game.
-First-year quarterback
Byron Bishop (Sublimity, Ore./Regis HS) threw for over 200 yards for the second time this season vs. St. Olaf and thrown at least one TD pass in four of the first five games.
-Bishop also ran for a season-high 34 yards vs. the Oles.
-
Jamari Thompson (Little Rock, Ark./Waller HS) had a pick-six in Saturday's game at St. Olaf, which was the program's first since 2018.
-Thompson leads the MIAC, averaging 5.4 solo tackles per game.
-Fellow first-year defensive-mate
Anthony Vo (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville HS) leads the MIAC, averaging 9.2 tackles per game.
-All four CSS interceptions this season have been by first-year players.
-The Saints are projected to start 11 first-year players and six seniors on Saturday, while the Johnnies will start 13 seniors and zero first-year players

What You Need to Know about Saint John's:
-The Johnnies are ranked fifth in both American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D3football.com polls.
-Saint John's is coming off 37-7 against Gustavus Adolphus College last weekend, where the Johnnies scored 27 unanswered points.
-SJU has shut out three of its last four opponents.
-This will be the sixth home game in first eight weeks for the Johnnies, but will finish on the road until likely the playoffs.
-The Johnnies lead the MIAC in both total offense (479.0 yards/game) and total defense (247.1 yards/game).
-The offense is led by senior running Henry Trost, who 13 rushing TDs on the year, which ranks eighth in NCAA Division III.
-Trost ran for 124 yards with three touchdowns against Gustavus last week.
-SJU will turn to senior backup Chris Backes at quarterback and Aaron Syverson injured last week. It will be his first collegiate start.
-The main target for Backes on Saturday will be senior wideout Ravi Alston, who had 98 yards on six receptions with a TD vs. Gustavus last week.
-Alston has 17 TD catches in his last 18 games.
-The Johnnies defense held Gustavus to 183 yards of offense last week.
-Senior defensive lineman Seth Morem was named MIAC Defensive Player of the Week
-Morem leads the MIAC in both tackles for loss (11.5) and sacks (7.5)

Series History: This will be the fourth straight meeting at Clemens Stadium … The first-ever meeting took place in the 2014 NCAA Division III playoffs … CSS has been held to a touchdown or less in all three meetings.
